Designed by Tomas Filsinger, the highly detailed star map is an update to the popular glow-in-the-dark map published by Celestial Arts in 1981. Celestial Star Map -- Jigsaw Puzzle 19 in. x 27 in. Click here for a larger view of the jigsaw star chart 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle consisting of a very ornate double hemisphere celestial map designed in 1680 by Frederick de Wit. Titled Planisphaerium Coeleste, the map consists of two hemispheres surrounded by six supplementary diagrams that illustrate the Copernican hypothesis, the Ptolemaic hypothesis, the Tycho Brahe hypothesis, the phases of the Moon relative to the Sun, the rotational pattern of the day, and the rotation of the Moon around the Earth. Each hemisphere is centered on the ecliptic pole and rendered on a polar stereographic projection with an external orientation (God's eye view).
